Does Amazon Eero Work With Xfinity

Does Amazon Eero Work With Xfinity – Eero is the home WiFi solution I’ve been waiting for. Say goodbye to the days of no WiFi in that room.

Let’s face it: Your home WiFi network can be awesome. Or at least it’s amazing that you want to connect directly to your router every time you go online. Of course you can’t except you. Like many people, You have a smartphone or tablet that relies on wireless connectivity. Or maybe you have your router in your living room, but your office is upstairs and you can’t spend the money to use gigabit Ethernet throughout the house.

Last year, a company called Eero decided to fix all that. Instead of a single router being the main WiFi hub for the whole house, the idea behind Eero is to use multiple hubs that talk to each other: each Eero device is a router; It does triple duty as an extender and wireless access point. — Basically creating a home network. That’s why Eero offers its system as a three-pack (of course, you can only get one Eero, but you won’t be able to use it to its full potential). Today, the company announced that those initial pre-orders are finally shipping. If you want to order it yourself, It’s available to order this week from the company’s website as well as Amazon.

But Eero is expensive. A single unit is $199, and a three-pack will run you $499 (down from the pre-order price of $125 and $299, respectively). That’s a lot of money to spend on a wireless home network, especially when so many routers and extenders sell for under $100. Is it worth it? After testing Eero for several days, The answer has to be a loud and clear yes.

Before we get into the incredible speed, let’s start with what this thing looks like. For a device as boring as a hotspot, the Eero is amazing. The top has a sleek, glossy curve and a cute little footprint (just 4.75 x 4.75 x 0.85 by 1.26 inches). I don’t have any qualifications to show this openly. This is actually part of the idea behind Eero. It’s more likely to emit stronger signals in the first place because it’s enough to take up space in front of the furniture. It’s the same philosophy behind Google’s OnHub router, and that’s not a bad thing.

Right now the Eero only has two Ethernet ports, which seems pretty limited for a router; But as you can see, I don’t think it’s a weakness. There’s also a USB port, but that’s for diagnostic purposes at the moment. Inside is a 1.0 Ghz dual-core processor; It has 512 MB RAM and 4 GB flash storage. It supports dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/ac (2.4 and 5 GHz).

Setting up your Eero network is very easy. To do this, Download the Eero app (you need either Android or iOS to get your Eero up and running) and follow the installation instructions. You will first need to create an account with Eero by adding your email address and phone number. It may seem a little strange at first; But Eero CEO Nick Weaver told me this system is used to send verification codes instead of setting up an account password. “Many of our early adopters set very strong passwords, and since this account controls your home network, we wanted to make it as secure as possible.”

Then connect the Eero to the modem like you would a router. The light on the Eero will flash blue to indicate that it is in connection mode. Go ahead and tap Next to pair your device with your phone. Then select the room you are in. From there, name your network; Set a password and you’re good to go. This app is useful for pairing Eero with your phone; But it also makes it easy to install additional Eero units in your home. Connect to each other — Eero recommends about 40 feet between units — and the app will detect it immediately and add it to the network.

Another great feature is the ability to create a special guest network enabled within the app. When you’re done checking in, the app can send your account details to your friends and family right away. The app lets you see how many devices are connected to your network. If you are a more advanced user, You can check statistics like DNS settings; Set IP reservations and port forwarding and enable universal Plug and Play for devices such as game consoles and media centers.

Now it’s gaining momentum. oh Speeds. This is where Eero really shines. Before trying Eero, I have an Xfinity SMC modem/router and an Apple Airport Express. In tests using the app, Xfinity and Apple’s routers regularly achieved download speeds of around 8Mbps and upload speeds of around 6Mbps. I was lucky and had days where I got close to 18Mbps downloads. It’s chaotic, especially since I’m only a few feet from one router to the next. Worse when trying to access the internet in an upstairs bedroom (our routers are in the downstairs living room). There were times when I couldn’t signal, Very bad.

However, Eero is a completely different beast. from the beginning Average download speed is 90 Mbps (upload speed is still around 6 Mbps). 90 Mbps is comparable to the speed achieved when connecting a computer directly to a modem. Thinking this was a coincidence, I tested the speeds in the corner of my bedroom, a notorious WiFi dead spot. Here, The speed drops to an average of around 30 Mbps, but that’s still much better than existing routers.

The real magic happens when you plug in a second Eero in the same bedroom. Suddenly the average 30 Mbps jumped to 90 Mbps. I was surprised. This is not exclusive to the Speedtest app. With Eero, Netflix videos played instantly when it would normally take a few seconds to buffer. loads in 5 seconds instead of 10. Downloading a 5MB image takes 2 minutes instead of 3. In every test I’ve done, the Eero outperforms the Airport Express and Xfinity routers every time. That’s why I don’t think it’s a big deal to have only two Ethernet ports. With WiFi speeds this good, you won’t need much of a wired connection.

Explaining how Eero works, Weaver says, “When everything works together, the magic happens. “The closer your devices are to your WiFi transmitter, the faster and more reliable speeds you get. We also use two radios and special software instead of using a single network name and range extender for better performance.”

Now, as I mentioned earlier, Eero is not cheap. You can get away with average speeds for half the price, and a 10 Mbps connection will work just fine for most people. If you’re lucky enough not to have a WiFi hotspot at home, the Eero isn’t worth it. But if you have areas of your home that WiFi can’t reach and you’re struggling with poor wireless connectivity, Eero might be the solution you’re looking for. Yay, If getting a three-pack for $499 is a little rich for your blood, Try getting the $199 unit to see if it’s enough. We can see that.

How Many Eeros Do I Need?

For me, the speed Appearance Not to mention the ease of use and speed, it’s worth considering Eero. It certainly is for me.
