Before setting up your Square Reader contactless with the chip, make sure you have a compatible device with the latest version of the Square app.

Press the button firmly on the reader. Green lights indicate that you are charged and ready to go. If you see a red light, charge immediately. Once your reader is on, you don’t have to worry about turning it off. It will automatically enter sleep mode after 2 hours of inactivity. To wake it from sleep mode, press the button on the side of the reader firmly once.
Connect one end of the included USB cable to your reader and the other end to a USB port such as a cell phone charger, computer or car charger.
Note: You can also use the Square Reader Dock to keep your reader charged and in place while you make payments.
The new reader connects wirelessly via Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth LE). Make sure you have the latest version of the Square app on your device – only the latest version that supports contact and chip card readers.

Any required firmware updates will be installed automatically when the reader is connected. The wireless connection may be lost if the reader and device are more than 10ft apart.
Note: Offline Mode payment processing is not currently available for Square Reader contact and chip and PIN cards.
If your reader has been previously paired with another device: Note, if you are reconnecting a reader that was previously paired with another device, you may want to forget your reader from that previously paired device. Get the most out of your Square Reader contactless chip and PIN by avoiding hardware damage. Other adhesives and the environment can cause damage to the Square Reader over time and shorten the life of your device. To protect your device:

To protect your Square Reader from everyday wear and tear, we recommend using the compatible cases, mounting hardware and charging docks featured in the Square Shop. These cases are compatible with different mobile phones and tablets. Keep your Square Reader offline and chip and PIN loaded and in place for quick, seamless countertop transactions by attaching it to the Square Reader Dock.
If you’re using the Square Stand with a reader, setup is easy. Simply connect the included USB cable (or your preferred Square Reader Dock) to the USB hardware hub on the Square Stand.
You can also connect your reader wirelessly if there is no free USB port on your hardware device.
Note: The iPad 2 does not connect wirelessly to the reader and requires a Square Stand to connect via USB.

If any information is entered incorrectly, the card will be rejected. If the inserted card numbers turn red, recheck the square payment problem.

The invoices are incredible and the value of the services they offer for a small merchant processing fee is excellent. Square helped me track my expenses like new equipment and made everything easy to understand. I am now organized as most of the finances are in one place. The Afterpay extension allows customers to pay for the services they want and makes paying easier. Great experience!
Never used square but the Cash app is the same company. Awesome direct deposit experience. They lie and say you get your deposit straight away in 2 days which is a lie. They hold your money until they see fit to give you your hard earned money. Go to the picture. I will not be using again as soon as I get my deposit (hopefully this century) I am closing my account and going back to Chime. Are these scam companies telling us when we get our hard earned money! I should have read the reviews first they are 95% bad. And the customer service is so rude and reading scripts that you have no real solution. I have a feeling there will be a lawsuit.

They are a scam company that works with other scam companies to get your money. I lost $460 ordering with another company that requires Venmo payment. That company said they didn’t get the money and I got an email from Venmo saying they paid Square.com but they denied the money.
DO NOT deal with anyone who wants Venmo, Bitcoin, etc. just and definitely look online first for company reviews.
Nothing. I did not receive the order. They say they ship via a carrier I’ve never heard of and the shipper wants me to pay $210 for “insurance” but it’s “fully refundable”? HA! Paying $210 for insurance on a $231 order???
Square is the biggest disappointment I’ve had while in business in the last ten years. I sold my company a million dollars and once I bought the designs, we quickly became a number. I will not recommend anyone to my friends and family.

Account was suspended at midnight, I am a contractor and painter. While I was figuring out how to pay my employees the next day and get all the legal documents they requested. After a 10 hour day of hard work, these guys had no problem taking my bills, my hard cash and holding my deposits. After I sent all the requested documents, 2 minutes later my account was deleted. My business is disabled and they don’t have full support, but they can review all my bank statements, lwellc information, invoices generated and submitted on their platform and I include my Home Depot expense summary on those work invoices that match their records. In 2 minutes they review all of that and close my account, forcing me to refund the customers money and look like an idiot. But they have not given me my money in my account. Not 1 return, dispute or bad review has crippled me and my staff live hood. If you are a small business please don’t make my mistake it will cost you all your hard work.
My client purchased services from me on October 25, 2022 for a payment of $900 which I received Amex made a mistake and entered a false dispute due to fraud saying they owed my client $900. That whole time the Bank my client fixed it with American Express and they charged the client again I attached a letter from American Express that I sent to the square 50 times with no answer and no help they keep debiting my personal check account for $900 which is a mistake. If they won’t fix it. American Express fixed it and said they will refund the money to square, it is not square or they will not do anything they told me to get a lawyer they told me they closed the case after 25 days they are useless liars out there, Agents made up stories promising to return the phones they never did and tried to steal this $900 from my account of the bank when this sale was legal and ultimately unquestionable and
